Shiiiiiiiit…

7/13/2011

The summer so far has been very relaxed. After 4 years of art school I had truly forgotten what having a life was like. No more weeklong homework marathons, no more 5am Kinko’s missions, no more one meal days etc. To celebrate I went to europe for a few weeks to walk around and not be in America. Shout out to Markus and Dacke for the hospitality!

But more importantly, I’ve started (and nearly finished) watching The Wire. The storytelling and character development in this series is unparalleled! Opinion: s3 > s1 > s2 > s5 > s4 (in terms of opening theme music).

Summertime

6/8/2010

and the living is definitely not easy. Damn. Crazy ass summer so far. The TS Creative has been dissolved to make room for a new agency: GRAY//MARKET. I’m working on the online portfolio for that in my spare time. This new venture is really interesting as I’ve never designed for advertising before. Right off the bat I made a few print ads that will be running in major magazines. TL;DR, I’m one of 5 partners, and we’re focusing on alternative marketing strategies. Lots of interesting things happening…

I started an alternative blog called SPACEMOVIES which will chronicle the more obscure, highly conceptual and complex masterworks of fine art and design that I churn out in photoshop in under 5 minutes… There’s some commentary in there if you go looking for it, but most of the time it’s the same message: fuck commentary, fuck metaphors, and get fine arts the fuck outta graphic design. It’s worth a look and a laugh.

In other news, Those Folks has some new product which will be available shortly. I’ve designed a web store so we can start selling merch online, but we’re figuring out all of the legal shit now..

That being said I’m really enjoying the lack of class/homework but almost missing the structured life that came with it. The days are crazy and unpredictable, but positive all in all. I’ll try to keep this blog active and avoid as many 6 week gaps as possible. And don’t worry bout me, I still get it in:

PUBLIC(ation)

3/10/2010

For my Com Studio IV class, I was asked to design a publication about something I was interested in. I chose to do it on the open source movement. All qualitative elements were to reflect this, so my publication was digital rather than printed. I have hosted it on my server and it is available for viewing at http://public.tiimo.com. It’s entitled PUBLIC and is written in PHP and Processing, with all of the source code readily available for download. As you can see it borrows much of the aesthetic of from this blog…

Mozzarella

Mims gets a pass because the content is really cool and it’s nicely shot. Check Luxirare out… they have some really interesting projects going on.

Space Movies

1/19/2010

This one’s for Paul “Páulo Nuñiez” Cooley. I posted it a year or two ago on another blog, but was recently reminded of it and had to rewatch. It starts slow but gets exponentially crazier as the minutes pass.

We’ll do it live

1/10/2010

Damn friends. It’s been many moons since I last blogged. The skimask blog was way rad, and you know Tiims stays on that funky shit, but it’s time for change. I will be redesigning the site while it’s live so you all can watch it progress. Fresh install, stripped CSS, I build themes from starkers (scratch).

In other news, I was recently given a Canon s90 as a gift and I am thoroughly digging it. I love my G9, but it’s just too big to bring around on the daily. Expect some images soon.
