This sunday, July 11th 2010, Those Folks will be hosting a BBQ/release party to celebrate the release of our summer mini-line. Things weren’t supposed to pop off until the fall, but we had some product and figured we could give you all a little taste. As you can see below, it will be as Rogue Status in Venice from 12-7pm. Come early and bring cash! Food and drinks while supplies last!

Summertime

6/8/2010

and the living is definitely not easy. Damn. Crazy ass summer so far. The TS Creative has been dissolved to make room for a new agency: GRAY//MARKET. I’m working on the online portfolio for that in my spare time. This new venture is really interesting as I’ve never designed for advertising before. Right off the bat I made a few print ads that will be running in major magazines. TL;DR, I’m one of 5 partners, and we’re focusing on alternative marketing strategies. Lots of interesting things happening…

I started an alternative blog called SPACEMOVIES which will chronicle the more obscure, highly conceptual and complex masterworks of fine art and design that I churn out in photoshop in under 5 minutes… There’s some commentary in there if you go looking for it, but most of the time it’s the same message: fuck commentary, fuck metaphors, and get fine arts the fuck outta graphic design. It’s worth a look and a laugh.

In other news, Those Folks has some new product which will be available shortly. I’ve designed a web store so we can start selling merch online, but we’re figuring out all of the legal shit now..

That being said I’m really enjoying the lack of class/homework but almost missing the structured life that came with it. The days are crazy and unpredictable, but positive all in all. I’ll try to keep this blog active and avoid as many 6 week gaps as possible. And don’t worry bout me, I still get it in:

Black Tear

4/5/2010

About a year ago, I helped my good friend Jun with some vector work for a shoe he was designing with Circa. Unfortunately I wear a size 13 and Circa select doesn’t run past 12… The graphics were embossed in leather and the production value is supreme. Pick a pair up at Streets of Venice on April 30th.

Trickin’

3/28/2010

I stumbled upon some neat things whilst fussing with photoshop this weekend. My bag of tricks grew huge in like 15 minutes. I consider the faux-aged graphic to be a little played, but it’s pretty none the less. This guy needs some type work… Paul wanna take it from here?

Listen to this while the animation loads…

Folks

2/2/2010

These days, a business cards life lasts as long as it takes for the recipient to input the info into their phone. After that they are either discarded, stored in a rolodex (least likely), or torn up and used as crutch paper in joints (most likely). Keeping that in mind we designed the TF card a half inch longer than standard size and has a perforated margin for easy tearing.

That XMAS day game was horrendous… But I ride. I was gonna fill this post up with retrospective naysaying, but I’ll let my man QB handle it:
